Job Summary
Provide health care to students aged 3 to 22 under the supervision of a clinical team, performing specialized procedures, administering medication, and assisting with activities of daily living. Deliver first aid and emergency care, including acting as a first responder and determining scenarios requiring escalation to supervising nurses or 911. Manage health office records, screening clinics, and mandated reporting for child abuse or neglect while ensuring compliance with state laws and district policies. Operate specialized health care equipment and navigate loud, fast-paced environments across multiple job sites.
Required Qualifications
- Basic math proficiency including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, sufficient to accurately perform medication calculations, diabetic care tasks (such as carbohydrate counting and blood glucose-related calculations), and other routine nursing responsibilities
- The ability to lift, carry, push, and or pull up to 50 pounds unassisted and over 50 pounds with assistance
- The ability to provide life-saving interventions if needed (this includes the ability to perform at least 5 sets of hands only CPR for roughly 2 minutes)
- The ability to assume and maintain a variety of postures (kneeling, squatting, crawling, sitting, standing) for extended periods of time
- The ability to sit on the floor, stand, or walk for extended periods of time and includes the physical demands of assisting a student or students in and outside of a classroom space
- Must be able to operate and navigate a variety of specialized health care equipment and computer interfaces
- Must have reliable transportation and be willing and able to travel between different job sites as needed
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English across verbal, written, and digital formats
- Must be able to exchange information in loud and fast-paced environments
- Graduation from an accredited Licensed Vocational Nurse training program
- Current and unrestricted Licensed Vocational Nurse license within state of practice
- BLS certification through the American Heart Association
Desired Qualifications
- 1 year of experience as an LVN in a school setting
