Job Summary
Perform direct clinical nursing care and administrative support for patients with infectious diseases, including HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, and Hepatitis C. Room patients, obtain medical histories, measure vital signs, and prepare exam rooms for procedures. Conduct clinical tasks such as phlebotomy, catheterization, wound care, EKGs, specimen collection, and medication administration under RN oversight. Coordinate follow-up care, facilitate specialty clinic activities, and reinforce patient education on disease processes and medications. Maintain accurate electronic health records, manage tracking lists for outreach, and support efficient clinic operations by scheduling tests and verifying patient readiness.
Required Qualifications
- Licensed Vocational Nurse education from an accredited nursing program
- Valid California license as a Licensed Vocational Nurse
- Current BLS Certification from the American Heart Association or Red Cross
- Must be able to work independently, with written protocols
- Must be sensitive to ethnic and cultural differences and their relevance to health care
- Must have the ability to multitask in a fast-paced health-care clinic environment
- Must be able to lift and move up to 25 pounds at a time
- Fulfill immunization and fit for duty regulatory requirements
- Ability to follow instructions and meet deadlines
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent verbal and written skills
Desired Qualifications
- Minimum of one year of Licnese Vocation experience in an outpatient clinic setting
- Experience working with HIV patients
- Experience with EPIC Electronic Health Records
- Bilingual English Spanish
