Job Summary
Perform vitals, blood draws, IV insertions, and EKGs on assigned patients while delivering nursing interventions consistent with the medical plan of care. Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care, including admission, discharge, and transfer procedures. Document nursing care in patient records, maintain confidentiality, and adhere to infection control and aseptic techniques. Notify staff of status changes, recognize care priorities, and safely administer medications under RN supervision. Requires current Texas LVN licensure, BLS certification, and at least one year of acute care hospital experience.
Required Qualifications
- Licensure as a Licensed Vocational Nurse in the State of Texas
- Current BLS Certification
- Graduate of an accredited Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) program with a current, unrestricted LVN license in the applicable state
- A minimum of one (1) year of recent acute care hospital experience
- Experience in an inpatient or hospital-based acute care setting
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Strong clinical, communication, and patient care skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to provide safe, compassionate, and high-quality patient care
- Ability to collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
- Ability to write simple correspondence
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situation
- Basic computer skills
