Job Summary
Provide basic nursing care to geriatric residents in long-term care/rehab/assisted living by performing assessments on admission and ongoing evaluations, updating and communicating care plans with IDT and families, administering medications and treatments safely, and documenting interventions accurately. Administer IV fluids if IV certified, respond calmly to crises, utilizes SBARR for physician notification, monitors care plan delivery, identifies problem areas and uses QAPI for timely problem resolution, performs ADLs with residents as needed, and pursues ongoing nursing education. The role requires collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, adherence to Bethesda policies, and willingness to take on additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Education from an accredited school of nursing resulting in Licensed Practical Nurse licensure
- Current license in the state of employment (LPN)
- IV Certification required or willing to obtain within six months of employment
- Current CPR/AED Certification required or willing to obtain within six months of employment
- Must be able to assess basic nursing care needs of geriatric residents
- Excellent communication skills with residents, visitors, and staff
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Critical thinking skills
