Job Summary
Assist veterinarians in outpatient exams, surgery, and other practice tasks by taking histories, vital signs, and weights while administering medications and anesthesia at their discretion. Prepare patients for surgery, monitor vital signs during procedures, and obtain blood or stool samples for in-house or outside laboratory testing. Perform radiographs following safety protocols, restrain animals during exams, and maintain clean exam rooms, treatment areas, and medical equipment. Communicate with the team and clients to ensure seamless care and high satisfaction. Requires a state license, surgery experience, and ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
Required Qualifications
- State license to work as a certified/licensed/registered veterinary technician in state of desired employment
- Ability to lift patients and carry equipment up to 25 pounds
- Ability to lift patients or carry equipment over 25 pounds with assistance
- Surgery experience
- Practice OSHA safety techniques including proper PPE
- Basic computer skills, familiarity with MS office applications, etc.
- Basic math and ability to calculate medication dosages
- Strong communication skills to ensure patient safety
