Job Summary

Demonstrate excellent relations with clients and pets in the waiting area and exam rooms while providing compassionate nursing care as the top priority. Perform medical procedures including phlebotomy, IV catheter placement, anesthetic induction and monitoring, wound care, and suture cutaneous and subcutaneous tissues. Assist with procedures, prepare and restrain animals, apply bandages and splints, and fill prescriptions dispensed as ordered by the doctor. Conduct cursory examinations, recognize potential patient issues, and clearly communicate findings to the medical team. Maintain record keeping, housekeeping, and maintenance duties while advising pet owners on proper care. Capable of cross-training for front office receptionist duties requiring telephone and computer skills.

Required Qualifications

  • Licensed Veterinary Technician
  • Previous experience or training/ education in a veterinary facility
  • Must be friendly, outgoing, 'people oriented'
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Must be capable of being cross-trained for front office receptionist duties
  • Must be a team player willing to learn new techniques, treatments, and accept change
  • Phlebotomy

  • Preparing and restraining animals during procedures
  • Anesthetic induction
  • Anesthetic monitoring
  • Assisting with procedures
  • Suture cutaneous and subcutaneous tissues

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Dependable attendance
  • Must be able to lift 40 pounds
  • Must be willing to work long or irregular hours under pressure conditions
  • The ability to walk, bend, stand, squat, or reach constantly during a minimum 8-hour day
  • *Some traveling may be required
