Job Summary
Conduct animal restraint, triage incoming patients, and manage nursing care for medical and hospitalized cases with varying stability. Perform diagnostic imaging, including radiographs and dental positioning, while assisting with surgical preparation and anesthetic monitoring. Collect and analyze lab samples, administer medications, and interpret medical records to communicate treatment plans with clients effectively. Work Monday through Saturday from 8:30 am to 6:00 pm, with some Sunday availability depending on schedule. This role supports a growing team of DVMs at Valhalla Animal Hospital, which offers in-house laboratory, pharmacy, and radiology services. Candidates receive a $2,500 sign-on bonus or relocation stipend and access to continuing education allowances and tuition reimbursement.
Required Qualifications
- An actively Licensed Veterinary Technician, or license eligible in the state of NY
- If not holding an active NY LVT license, must be eligible for taking the VTNE as well as take and pass it within 3 months of hire
- Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises
- May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases
- Some Saturday availability
- Ability to restrain pets in a low-stress and safe manner
- Proficient in sample collection to include blood samples, urine, fecal, and skin
- Proficient in anesthesia and surgical monitoring
- Ability to receive in a professional manner constructive feedback to maintain hospital efficiency
- Hiring eligibility contingent to a candidate authorizing and completing a satisfactory background check
