Job Summary
Develops and implements individualized academic programs by performing formal and informal assessments of academic achievement, social-emotional development, and vocational skills; prepares materials and individualized lesson plans; uses a variety of instructional techniques and materials; applies IEP and treatment planning processes to obtain student history, issues, and goals; prepares for IEP meetings and creates appropriate goals and objectives; monitors student progress and evaluates effectiveness; creates a safe and structured classroom environment with clear expectations and consistent behavior management; communicates with families and staff, coordinates with outside agencies, maintains accurate documentation of grades, progress notes, incident reports, and IEP goals; promotes positive relationships with students while maintaining professional boundaries; ensures rights of students are observed and protected through appropriate de-escalation techniques and, when necessary, correct physical restraint methods; maintains program standards and confidentiality in accordance with organizational policies; participates as a team member and collaborates with families and external personnel to support student success and program goals; adheres to MAP standards and charted progress toward continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) from four-year college or university; and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Valid Tennessee Driver’s License with appropriate endorsements.
- Valid state teacher’s license.
