Job Summary

Lead the Roseville office survey team by supervising technicians, assigning daily tasks, and ensuring all field and office deliverables meet strict QA/QC standards. Manage project budgets, schedules, and resource allocation while overseeing hiring, training, and performance reviews for survey staff. Provide hands-on party chief services for boundary, topographic, and construction staking projects, including field visits and client liaison duties. Develop proposals, cost estimates, and scope narratives to win new business and maintain a 70% utilization rate. Travel frequently to conduct site activities and consult with stakeholders, ensuring high-quality products are produced within client deadlines.

Required Qualifications

  • California Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license
  • 12+ years of experience in Surveying, Civil Engineering or related field(s)
  • Demonstrated leadership experience overseeing and guiding office surveyors and survey technicians
  • Expertise in survey equipment use, configuration, troubleshooting, procurement, repair (e.g. theodolite, total station, drones, GPS/GNSS, etc..), in the field and in the office
  • Expertise in Survey software, including but not limited to GIS/GPS, aerial and non-aerial cartography, data collectors, etc.
  • Proficient knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D software, PDF software, such as Bluebeam, Adobe Acrobat, etc., and in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Project, etc.)
  • Abilities to grasp and become proficient in new software and technologies
  • Ability to pay attention to detail with a high level of accuracy
  • Demonstrates a strong work ethic
  • Good interpersonal abilities for working in a team environment
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and take direction
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to self-motivate and work productively without supervision
  • Proactive approach/self-starter/takes initiative
  • Ability to kneel, climb, and lift up to 50 lbs
  • Valid California driver's license and insurable driving record
  • Must be available for travel to conduct field visits, survey activities, and consult with clients and agencies

Desired Qualifications

  • Background in surveying for complex properties and right-of-way issues
  • Knowledge of land geographic information systems (GIS) and boundary law
  • Familiarity with surveying for subdivisions, planned unit developments (PUD), and parcel maps
  • High attention to detail, flexibility, and adaptability to work in varying conditions
