Job Summary
Licensed Special Education Teacher for Youth Villages’ residential programs in Tennessee and Georgia. Deliver targeted instruction through individual and small-group activities to promote growth in language, social, and other skills. Create and implement lesson plans, administer and interpret assessments, maintain compliance with school guidelines, and prepare progress notes, attendance, and testing scores in an EMR system. Participate in CPI and CPR trainings, support students in year-round classrooms with small class sizes (8–15), and assist with crisis interventions and trauma-informed care as part of a comprehensive behavioral-health-focused education program. The role requires physical stamina for activities including walking and lifting up to 50 pounds, and a valid driver’s license. The program emphasizes aligning educational progress with therapeutic goals across secure facilities, open campuses, and group homes in TN and GA, with opportunities for professional growth and advancement.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree with grade/subject-specific endorsement (required)
- Active teaching license in the applicable state (required)
- Experience working in a school setting (required)
- Experience working with youth with severe emotional and behavioral needs (preferred)
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent written, verbal, and oral skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
- Basic computer knowledge
- Ability to maintain a flexible schedule
