Job Summary
Assess, diagnose, and treat patients in residence with mental illnesses, substance use disorders, and behavioral issues while collaborating with medical, mental health, and correctional staff to ensure a safe environment. Perform and document mental health evaluations, progress notes, and individual treatment plans; initiate patient education programs and group therapy. Monitor compliance with site-specific policies, ACA, and NCCHC standards, and prepare reports for hearings. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to correctional healthcare procedures. Requires a minimum of three years clinical experience, independent licensure, and ability to handle physically demanding tasks.
Required Qualifications
- independently licensed
- Licensed Social Worker Mental Health Counselor (LCSW, LCMHC, LMFT, LMHP, LMSW, LISW, LPC, or LPCC)
- minimum of 3 years' clinical experience in a mental health care or acute care setting
- correctional healthcare experience
- knowledge and experience in the identification and treatment of mental health and co-occurring substance abuse disorders
- discharge planning
- principles of social work
- basic principles of individual and group behavior
- working knowledge of psychotropic medications
- ability to remain calm under pressure
- ability to assess patients' situations
- ability to identify underlying causes of behavior
- ability to develop interventions and treatment plans
- effective communications skills
- strong organizational skills
- ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
