Job Summary

Assess, diagnose, and treat patients in residence with mental illnesses, substance use disorders, and behavioral issues while collaborating with medical, mental health, and correctional staff to maintain a secure environment. Perform and document mental health evaluations, progress notes, individual and group counseling notes, and treatment plans to address criminogenic needs and promote positive behavioral change. Participate in educational activities for patients and staff, manage case files, prepare reports, and initiate patient education programs. Monitor compliance with site-specific policies, ACA, and NCCHC standards, and ensure confidentiality of all proprietary information. This role requires a minimum of three years' clinical experience in mental health or acute care, with correctional healthcare experience preferred. Full-time employment in Hillsborough County Jail, Tampa, Florida.

Required Qualifications

  • Licensed Social Worker Mental Health Counselor (LCSW, LCMHC, LMFT, LMHP, LMSW, LISW, LPC, or LPCC)
  • Minimum of 3 years' clinical experience in a mental health care or acute care setting
  • Correctional healthcare experience
  • Knowledge and experience in the identification and treatment of mental health and co-occurring substance abuse disorders
  • Experience in discharge planning
  • Knowledge of principles of social work
  • Knowledge of basic principles of individual and group behavior
  • Working knowledge of psychotropic medications
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Ability to assess patients' situations, underlying causes of their behavior, and develop interventions and treatment plans
  • Effective communications skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
  • Integrity, professionalism, and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct
  • Ability to comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
  • Ability to pass the facility's criminal background check
  • Ability to pass drug screening
  • Ability to stand for long periods
  • Ability to lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds)
  • Ability to bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks like CPR
  • Good balance and endurance throughout a shift
