Job Summary
Provide safe, respectful nursing care to assigned residents by conducting head-to-toe assessments, administering medications, and monitoring vital signs and laboratory values. Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to develop individualized care plans, participate in family conferences, and support residents with activities of daily living. Document all care procedures, assessments, and progress while assisting with resident admissions, discharges, and transfers. Mentor new staff and student preceptors by demonstrating work procedures and sharing clinical knowledge. Operate related equipment and model behaviors aligned with the Home for Us philosophy of care.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of a recognized program for Practical Nurses
- Registration with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) as a practicing LPN Registrant
- Demonstrated knowledge and competencies to work at full scope of practice as currently required by the BCCNM
- Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with residents, families, co-workers, members of the multi-disciplinary care team and the public
- Ability to deal effectively with others
- Ability to organize work and implement a plan of care
- Effectively model behaviours associated with the Home for Us philosophy of care and mentor staff in the same
- Ability to operate related equipment
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position
- Must be available for 1500-2300/2300-0700 hours
- Must be available for 1.0 FTE, 75 biweekly hours
