Job Summary
Assist with patient care by checking vital signs, administering injections, performing tests, and documenting chief health concerns. Take patient medical histories, enter data into computer systems, and maintain detailed records while checking, cleaning, and dressing wounds. Follow physician and registered nurse orders to provide care, reinforce instructions, and notify staff of significant condition changes. Order prescriptions from pharmacies, maintain patient confidentiality, and stock patient rooms with supplies. Initiate emergency assistance as needed and provide emotional support. Attend staff development trainings to keep skills current. Work flexible shifts in support of the mission and goals of Samaritan Daytop Village.
Required Qualifications
- NYS LPN licensure
- BLS certification
- High School or GED
- Graduate of a formal Technical or Vocational LPN Program
- At least One (1) year experience as an LPN working with clients with Substance Use Disorder (SUD) and/or Serious Mental Illness (SMI)
- Available to work a flexible schedule as needed in response to participant and staff needs
- Computer literacy including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and EHR
- Ability to put patients at ease and explain physician's instructions
- Ability to multi-task with excellent organization skills
- Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Team player and ability to work independently
