Job Summary
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides hands-on nursing care under RN supervision as part of a multidisciplinary clinical team in a behavioral health crisis setting. Responsibilities include monitoring medications under RN supervision, maintaining medication records, coordinating care and patient/provider appointments, assisting with intake, completing clinical documentation, and supporting treatment and discharge planning. The role requires patient advocacy, education on diabetes and psychiatric medications, adherence to policies and state/federal regulations, and de-escalation training. The position is full-time, 7:00am–7:30pm rotating shifts in Durham, NC, with a $27-$29/hour wage and a $2,000 sign-on bonus. Required Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited LPN program
- Current and valid LPN license
- Minimum of one year of experience working in a behavioral health setting
- Thorough comprehension of psychiatric nursing preferred
- Knowledge of psychiatric medications and their indications, common side effects, reactions and interactions of medications prescribed
- Ability to work with agitated guests in crisis and their families to implement behavioral management interventions
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to pay close attention to detail
- Ability to problem solve
- Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing
- Effective listening skills
- Excellent clinical documentation skills
- Must be able to pass de-escalation training, as defined by state requirements
- Driving requirements per policy (if applicable)
- Must be at least 18 years old (or state-specific minimum)
- Must be able to pass credentialing and background checks
- Must be able to pass substance abuse testing and/or tuberculous testing (if applicable)
- Must be able to obtain designated fingerprinting clearance (where required)
