Job Summary
LPNs provide comprehensive nursing care in correctional facilities while working under RN supervision, traveling between St. Mary’s Detention Center (Leonardtown) and Charles County Detention Center (La Plata). Responsibilities include maintaining accurate EMRs, safeguarding controlled substances, conducting sick calls, documenting symptoms and progress, and contributing to the care plan. The role includes an orientation period with on-the-job shadowing, and a full-time evening shift (2:00 pm–10:30 pm) with rotating weekends. Applicable duties emphasize documentation, patient care for inmates/patients, and adherence to state/federal laws; opportunities include overtime, shift differential, and a comprehensive benefits package.
Required Qualifications
- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in Maryland
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to function under supervision
- Demonstrate clinical competency
- Experience in correctional health care delivery system is a plus
- MD license or eligibility for Maryland LPN license
