Job Summary
Determine donor eligibility through medical history interviews, physical examinations, and blood testing, including review of Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE) results. Manage donor adverse events and evaluate reactions per SOPs, coordinating emergency transport and standing orders with the Center Physician. Administer informed consent, AIDS education, and confidential self-exclusion protocols while supporting Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs. Perform basic IV therapy and manage employee incidents requiring occupational health evaluation. Act as Pandemic Coordinator for investigations when authorized by EHS or Medical Affairs.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent to including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements
- Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: LPN or LVN
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification
- Fulfill state requirements (in state of licensure) for basic IV therapy
- Satisfactorily complete the FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
- Two years in a clinical or hospital setting
