Job Summary
Conduct patient care and advocate for patients of all ages in a multi-provider, multidisciplinary organization. Perform nursing tasks including vital signs, medication administration, wound care, and sterile procedures while documenting in the EHR. Assist providers with patient preparation, triage, and follow-up of hospital discharges within forty-eight hours. Maintain patient confidentiality, participate in quality assurance monitoring, and provide patient education and referrals. Work in a busy downtown community health center with long hours sometimes required.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Current state licensure to practice in Massachusetts
- Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (C.P.R.) certified
- Maintains licensure and certifications
- Knowledge of nursing principles including disease process, certain examinations, observations, laboratory studies and appropriately apply these principles to patient care
- Knowledge of Nurse Practice Act/Code of Ethics
- Knowledge of Nursing Process
- Knowledge of Managed Care
- Knowledge of OSHA Guidelines
- Knowledge of Emergency Procedures
- Computer skills
- Visual acuity sufficient for frequent reading
- Hearing acuity sufficient for holding conversation with or without audio devices
- Physical demands requiring lifting of small pieces of equipment, boxes, and /or patients not to exceed forty (40) pounds
- Mostly standing and walking required
