Job Summary
Obtain medical history, vital signs, and intake; prioritize patient care and perform procedures including venipuncture, IV insertion, and urinary straight catheterization. Administer oral, rectal, IM, and IV medications while assisting the physician with total patient care within the scope of practice. Perform monthly quality control checks in the office and lab, maintain exam rooms with adequate supplies, and ensure proper sterilization. Respond to emergencies by helping patients in distress and promptly notifying the physician. Follow policies, enforce safety standards, and maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA. Schedule is 8a-12p or 6p-10p, part-time. Requires active state nursing license, pediatric experience, and current BLS certification.
Required Qualifications
- Pediatric experience
- Pediatric ER, Pediatric hospital unit, or Pediatrics Urgent Care Experience preferred
- Active state nursing license or active compact state licensure from the state you reside
- Prior experience and competency with nursing procedures (not limited to IV placement, urinary straight catheterization, and medication administration)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Knowledge of medical practice and terminology, clinic's processes, and procedures
- Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments
- Skill in rapid assessment of the critical presentation of the pediatric population
- Ability to use sound reasoning and judgment and act calm in emergencies
- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and nonverbally
