Job Summary
Provide patient/family centered care in a secure correctional healthcare environment under the direction of a registered nurse. Conduct medical intake screenings, perform nursing care for inmates/detainees, and respond to medical emergencies inside the secure perimeter. Assist medical staff with examinations, procedures, and vital signs while maintaining control of sharps, medications, and equipment per safety standards. Work 12-hour shifts from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am with a 36-hour weekly schedule and shift differential. Maintain professionalism and awareness in locked cells, exam rooms, and segregation units.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate from an accredited Practical Nurse program
- Licensed as an LPN in South Carolina or a compact state
- A current CPR card (AHA BLS or Red Cross Professional Rescuer)
