Job Summary
Greet and prepare patients for examination, assisting providers during testing, treatment, and education while maintaining HIPAA compliance. Perform diagnostic services including pregnancy tests, EKGs, and vision screens, and administer prescribed medications per provider orders. Chart pertinent health information, report test results, and document provider notes and signatures in electronic medical records. Provide counseling on health status, immunizations, preventative care, and community resources, while consulting with clinic disciplines to address patient needs. Screen phone calls per triage protocol, interact with third-party payers for reimbursement, and resolve patient flow issues. Ensure exam rooms are stocked, sterilize instruments, and maintain equipment logs.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Practical Nurse Program
- Indiana State Licensed Practical Nurse license
- CPR certified
- TB Certified
- Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 lbs
- Corrected vision and hearing to normal range
- Ability to work under stressful conditions
- Exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids
- Working knowledge of the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation)
- Proficient in the use of computer and other medical equipment/instruments to administer patient care and accurately retrieve/record patient data
Desired Qualifications
- Two years of professional nursing experience in family practice, pediatrics, and/or ob-gyn
- Experience with electronic medical records
