Job Summary
Perform patient assessments, administer medications, manage chronic illnesses, and respond to emergencies while working alongside correctional officers in a secure environment. Take vital signs, provide wound care, maintain electronic medical records, and offer emergency first aid and patient education. Observe patient health and mental health status, and assist with discharge planning. This role involves 12-hour shifts for new grads or experienced nurses, with training provided for new hires.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate from a Licensed Practical Nursing program
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Actively state-certified as a Licensed Vocational Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse
- Must possess an active BLS CPR Certification
- Able to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
- Display integrity, professionalism and be able to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
- Must pass the facility's criminal background check and drug screening
- Must have the ability to stand for long periods
- Must have the ability to lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds)
- Must have the ability to bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR, all while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift
