Job Summary
Provide direct patient care in a correctional setting, including administering medications, monitoring vital signs, conducting initial screenings, and responding to medical emergencies. Assist with sick call assessments, document patient progress, and maintain accurate records while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local healthcare regulations. Educate patients and staff on health topics, coordinate with physicians and correctional staff, and ensure the medical unit remains stocked and organized. Work the 8A-8P rotating weekend schedule at the Catawba County Detention Center, holding a current LPN/LVN license and active CPR/BLS certificate.
Required Qualifications
- A current, valid state(s) licensure, certificate and/or credentials documenting ability to practice in applicable role (i.e. CMA, LPN, RN, LMHP, etc.)
- A High School diploma or GED
- Active CPR/BLS certificate (American Heart Association/American Red Cross guideline approved)
- 1-3 years of experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in a correctional healthcare or similar environment
Desired Qualifications
- An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Healthcare, Nursing, or a related field
- Experience in roles that involve direct patient care or administrative support in a regulated environment
- Strong understanding of healthcare regulations, policies, and procedures as they relate to the correctional setting
- Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively, adhere to protocols, and deliver high-quality service in a fast-paced, structured environment
