Job Summary
Provide nursing care in an assigned medical-surgical area under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Utilize the medication administration system to deliver medications, document vital signs, procedures, and equipment used, and monitor patients for safety. Communicate updates to the RN and other providers regarding patient condition changes, assist in training new staff, and attend department meetings. Maintain accurate records of all care provided while adhering to standard precautions for exposure to blood and bodily fluids. Requires a current LPN license, BLS certification, and the ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program
- Current, valid LPN license in state of practice
- Temporary LPN license in state of practice
- BLS
- Able to stand, walk, bend, squat, reach, and stretch frequently
- Physical agility and adequate reaction time
- Adequate hearing and visual acuity
- Adequate color vision
- Fine motor skills
- Adequate eye-hand coordination
- Ability to grasp and handle objects
- Ability to use proper body mechanics
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds
- Ability to communicate effectively through reading, writing, and speaking
- Ability to use a personal computer
- Ability to utilize the medication administration system
- Ability to provide patients with information on their medication
- Ability to communicate and update RN and other providers
- Ability to accurately record medications and document vital signs
- Ability to monitor patients for safety
- Ability to attend department meetings and educational sessions
- Ability to assist in training new department staff
