Job Summary
Provide routine nursing care to residents or patients at the Erie County Medical Center Corporation or Health Department Clinic while performing higher level technical nursing tasks under general supervision. Maintain patient equipment, administer and document medications including IV infusions, and perform EKG testing, pulse oximetry, and phlebotomy when assigned to the Long-Term Care Facility. Monitor vital signs, record weights, and observe patient conditions to ensure safety and comfort. Transport patients, assist with treatments, and teach health care plans. Report incidents and status changes to the nurse in charge, develop interpersonal relationships with patients and staff, and participate in in-service education. Requires a valid NY LPN license, BLS certification, and a driver's license for Health Department roles.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of a course of study in a registered School of Practical Nursing approved by the New York State Education Department
- Possession of a license and current registration to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse as issued by the New York State Education Department
- Possession of a limited Graduate Practical Nurse (GPN) permit as issued by the New York State Education Department
- Possession of a Licensed Practical Nurse license within one year
- Maintenance of license throughout duration of appointment
- Possession of Basic Life Support (BLS) from an approved ECMCC provider
- Maintenance of BLS throughout duration of appointment
- Possession of a valid New York State Driver's license
- Use of a private automobile
