Job Summary
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) sought for VA Hudson Valley Healthcare System under a long-term federal staffing contract. Provide direct patient care across medical, psychiatric, and geriatric units at Montrose and Castle Point VA Medical Centers. Not travel or per-diem; roles offer a stable, full-time schedule with shifts including days, evenings, extended days, and nights. Responsibilities include administering oral, topical, subcutaneous, intramuscular, and intravenous medications; observing patient responses and documenting in VA electronic health records (CPRS/VISTA); collaborating with RNs, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams; and rotating across units as scheduled. Requires active LPN license, graduate of an approved nursing program, CPR/BLS, English proficiency, ability to pass federal background checks, and VA credentialing/credentialing processes. Prior VA or federal healthcare experience, familiarity with CPRS/VISTA, and NY LPN license are preferred. Orientation includes two days of facility nursing orientation plus three weeks of unit-based rotation. Competitive hourly rate with shift differentials and federal background-credentialing costs covered.
Required Qualifications
- Active, unrestricted LPN license issued by any U.S. state, territory, or the District of Columbia (New York license strongly preferred)
- Graduate of a state-approved school of practical or vocational nursing
- Current CPR/BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- English language proficiency — spoken, reading, and writing
- Ability to pass a federal background investigation
- Ability to complete VA mandatory online training (TMS) prior to start
- Ability to complete VA credentialing and privileging process (allow 8–10 weeks from hire)
