Job Summary
Determines donor eligibility to donate plasma, manages donor adverse events, reviews laboratory test results, and notifies donors of unsuitable results. Works under the guidance of the Center Manager (or Assistant Manager) and Center Physician for medical issues; familiar with plasma collection regulations and supports environmental, health and safety programs. Responsibilities include informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview, physical examination, blood testing, and review of SPE; evaluates donor reactions and follows SOPs for medical emergencies, including donor transport to care facilities. Collaborates with Center Physician/Medical Affairs for any unacceptable findings and guidance on medical or technical issues, and supports vaccination programs for employees. May serve as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and assist investigations related to pandemic threats. Requirements include an active LPN/LVN license in the state of responsibilities, CPR/AED, IV therapy prerequisites, FDA-approved BioLife Medical Support Specialist training, and two years of clinical or hospital experience.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent including graduate equivalent of a recognized nursing program
- Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: LPN or LVN
- CPR and AED certification
- Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy
- FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
- Two years in a clinical or hospital setting
