Job Summary
As a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse), you will determine donor eligibility through informed consent processes, AIDS education, confidential self-exclusion, medical history interviews, physical examinations, and review of laboratory test results (including SPE). You will assess donor safety by evaluating donor reactions and managing medical emergencies per SOPs, and you will refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs as needed for medical or technical guidance. You will support vaccination programs for employees, manage occupational health incidents in collaboration with EHS, and may serve as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized. You will work under the Plasma Center Manager and Center Physician guidance to ensure quality patient care and regulatory compliance within BioLife Plasma Services. You will contribute to a fast-paced center environment focused on donor safety, quality service, and compliance with applicable health and safety standards.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent including graduate of an accredited nursing program with state requirements
- Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: LPN or LVN
- Current CPR and AED certification
- Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy
- FDA approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
- Two years in a clinical or hospital setting
