Job Summary
Assist with patient care including checking vital signs, administering injections, performing tests, and discussing chief health concerns under the direction of an RN or physician. Take medical histories, enter data into computer systems, and record detailed reports of care given while maintaining confidentiality. Check and dress wounds, reinforce instructions, notify staff of significant findings, and place calls to pharmacies for prescriptions. Maintain neat work areas, stock patient rooms, and pull charts. Initiate emergency assistance per policies, attend staff development trainings, and keep skills current. Available to work a flexible schedule in New York City with NYS LPN licensure, BLS certification, and one year of experience with clients in substance use disorder or serious mental illness.
Required Qualifications
- NYS LPN licensure
- BLS certification
- High School or GED
- Graduate of a formal Technical or Vocational LPN Program
- At least One (1) year experience as an LPN working with clients with Substance Use Disorder (SUD) and/or Serious Mental Illness (SMI)
- Available to work a flexible schedule as needed in response to participant and staff needs
- Computer literacy including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and EHR
- Ability to put patients at ease and explain physician's instructions
- Ability to multi-task with excellent organization skills
- Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Team player and ability to work independently
