Job Summary
Conduct intake assessments by collecting patient histories, documenting complaints, and preparing detainees for RN evaluation. Obtain vital signs, including manual blood pressure verification, and support daily patient encounters and reassessments within the LPN scope of practice. Assist with medication verification by reviewing pharmacy records, contacting pharmacies, and cross-referencing histories while maintaining logs and tracking waste. Enter and maintain accurate documentation in electronic systems for encounters, transfers, and inventory logs. Organize medical records, assist with chart audits, and manage medical supply inventory by monitoring stock levels. Provide clerical support to the Nurse Manager and ensure compliance with facility policies, correctional healthcare standards, and security procedures. Collaborate effectively with RNs, physicians, and other healthcare team members. Requires an active Michigan LPN license, NCLEX-PN, BLS certification, and minimum one year of nursing experience.
Required Qualifications
- Active and unrestricted Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the State of Michigan
- Graduate of an accredited practical nursing program
- NCLEX-PN
- Current BLS certification
- Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience
- Ability to perform in a fast-paced and challenging environment under RN/physician supervision
- Strong clinical skills
- Strong critical thinking skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Must pass a criminal background check
- Must pass a drug screening
