Job Summary
Provide direct skilled bedside nursing care to terminally ill patients enrolled in the VITAS program in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act of the state where the program is located. Responsibilities include evaluating patient/family needs and contributing to the interdisciplinary plan of care, performing selected nursing acts under RN supervision, administering treatments and medications, monitoring and documenting patient responses, ensuring a clean and safe environment, maintaining accurate clinical notes and documentation, and participating in patient/family teaching and discharge planning. Ability to establish therapeutic relationships with patients and families, follow nursing protocols, and participate in ongoing professional development is required. Must maintain transportation and liability insurance for work, be a graduate of an approved practical/vocational nursing program, hold a current LPN/LVN license in the state of employment, and have at least one year of relevant nursing experience with flexibility for on-call and weekend shifts.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an approved school of Practical/Vocational nursing.
- Currently licensed to practice nursing in the state where the VITAS program is located.
- At least one year of satisfactory nursing experience, at least one year of which is an LPN/LVN in a hospital on an adult medical surgical unit.
- Equivalent experience may be considered.
