Job Summary
Perform patient assessments, take vital signs, provide wound care, and administer medications to individuals in the Middlesex County Jail. Monitor patient health and mental status, maintain medical records in TechCare, and deliver emergency first aid. Educate patients and assist with discharge planning while working alongside correctional officers in a secure environment. This part-time weekend-evening role offers pay ranging from $31.16 to $32.80 based on shift and experience. New graduates are encouraged to apply, as training is provided in correctional healthcare.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate from a Licensed Practical Nursing program
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Actively state-certified as a Licensed Vocational Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse
- Must possess an active BLS CPR Certification (American Heart Association required)
- Able to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
- Display integrity, professionalism and be able to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
- Must pass the facility's criminal background check and drug screening
- Must have the ability to stand for long periods
- Must have the ability to lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds)
- Must have the ability to bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR, all while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift
- Must be able to work weekend - evenings only
