Job Summary
Perform patient assessments, administer medications, manage chronic illnesses, and respond to emergencies while working alongside correctional officers in a secure environment. Provide wound care, monitor vital signs, maintain electronic health records, and deliver patient education and discharge planning. Offer emergency first aid and observe patient health and mental health status within a controlled facility setting. Full-time, part-time, and PRN positions available with a $7,500 sign-on bonus for full-time hires. New graduates encouraged to apply as training is provided.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate from a Licensed Practical Nursing program
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Actively state-certified as a Licensed Vocational Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse
- Be able to obtain BLS CPR Certification (AHA required)
- Ability to interact effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds, including those with mental health or substance abuse issues
- Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information and integrity, professionalism and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
- Must pass the facility's criminal background check and drug screening
- Must have the ability to stand for long periods
- Must have the ability to lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds)
- Must have the ability to bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR, all while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift
