Job Summary
Perform patient assessments, administer medications, provide wound care, and manage chronic illnesses while maintaining medical records in the electronic health record system. Take vital signs, offer emergency first aid, observe patient health and mental health status, and provide patient education and discharge planning. Work alongside correctional officers in a secure environment where security is a top priority. Full-time employees receive a $5,000 sign-on bonus, while part-time positions may be available. New graduates are encouraged to apply as training is provided.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate from a Licensed Practical Nursing program
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Actively state certified as a Licensed Vocational Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse
- Be able to obtain BLS CPR Certification (AHA required)
- Ability to interact effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds, including those with mental health or substance abuse issues
- Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information and integrity, professionalism and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
- Must pass the facility's criminal background check and drug screening
- Must have the ability to stand for long periods
- Must have the ability to lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds)
- Must have the ability to bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR, all while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift
