Job Summary
Perform patient assessments, administer medications, provide wound care, and manage chronic illnesses within the Arizona Department of Correction - Safford facility. Take vital signs, maintain electronic health records, observe patient status, deliver emergency first aid, and conduct discharge planning for incarcerated individuals with complex medical needs. Work alongside correctional officers in a secure environment while adhering to correctional healthcare policies and passing background checks. Full-time roles include a $5,000 sign-on bonus and competitive hourly pay ranging from $32.00 to $34.00.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate from a Licensed Practical Nursing program
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Actively state certified as a Licensed Vocational Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse
- Be able to obtain BLS CPR Certification (AHA required)
- Ability to interact effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds, including those with mental health or substance abuse issues
- Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information and integrity, professionalism and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
- Must pass the facility's criminal background check and drug screening
- Must have the ability to stand for long periods
- Must have the ability to lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds)
- Must have the ability to bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR, all while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift
