Job Summary
Perform patient assessments, administer medications, and provide wound care in a secure correctional environment. Monitor vital signs, manage chronic illnesses, and deliver emergency first aid while maintaining electronic health records. Educate patients and support discharge planning for individuals with complex medical needs. This role requires standing for long periods, lifting up to 50 pounds, and interacting with diverse populations. New graduates are encouraged to apply as training is provided.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate from a Licensed Practical Nursing program
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Actively state certified as a Licensed Vocational Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse
- Be able to obtain BLS CPR Certification (AHA required)
- Ability to interact effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds, including those with mental health or substance abuse issues
- Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information and integrity, professionalism and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
- Must pass the facility's criminal background check and drug screening
- Must have the ability to stand for long periods
- Must have the ability to lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds)
- Must have the ability to bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR, all while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift
