Job Summary
Perform patient assessments, administer medications, provide wound care, and respond to emergencies while maintaining medical records in the electronic health record system. Take vital signs including blood pressure, temperature, and weight, observe patient health and mental health status, and deliver patient education and discharge planning. Provide emergency first aid and interact effectively with diverse populations, including those with mental health or substance abuse issues. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to correctional healthcare policies and legal requirements. This role requires standing for long periods, lifting up to 50 pounds, and passing a criminal background check and drug screening. Full-time employees receive a $5,000 sign-on bonus and comprehensive benefits starting day one.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate from a Licensed Practical Nursing program
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Actively state certified as a Licensed Vocational Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse
- Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information and integrity, professionalism and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
- Must pass the facility's criminal background check and drug screening
- Must have the ability to stand for long periods
- Must have the ability to lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds)
- Must have the ability to bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR, all while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift
Desired Qualifications
- Be able to obtain BLS CPR Certification (AHA preferred)
