Job Summary
Conduct initial patient assessments, evaluate symptoms, and differentiate between emergent, urgent, and non-urgent cases in the clinic. Collect and document physical, psychological, and educational data while administering medications, performing blood draws, and assisting physicians with examinations and minor procedures. Screen telephone calls, coordinate lab tests, and manage pre-authorizations for medications and specialized procedures. Maintain clean exam and procedure rooms, inventory clinical supplies, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards and Joint Commission requirements. Work under supervision of a Physician, collaborate with nursing staff on daily scheduling, and attend continuing education classes to maintain department competencies.
Required Qualifications
- Current CPR card
- Strong computer skills for documentation purposes in the electronic medical record
- Good nursing assessment and judgment skills
- Good communication skills and documentation skills
- Ability and desire to function well with providers, nursing staff, and outside health care agencies and providers
- Ability to adjust actions in relation to others' actions
- Ability to consider the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one
- Ability to watch gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly
- Must possess a current Illinois Licensed Practical Nurse certification
- Must be a graduate of an approved school of practical nursing
- Must be able to stand, bend and reach
- Must be able to lift, push and pull weight of at least one to 5 pounds
- Ability to work under stress and adapt to variable and unpredictable conditions
