Job Summary

Provide basic nursing care including checking blood pressure, inserting catheters, and assisting with patient comfort and hygiene. Document accurate assessments of patient status and teach residents or significant others appropriate health information. Prepare and administer medications according to policy, verify resident identity, and ensure accurate narcotic records. Perform direct patient care, admit, transfer, and discharge residents as required, while charting accidents and incidents. Demonstrate ability to handle emergency situations promptly and give thorough change-of-shift reports. Work full-time day shifts (7-3pm, 3-11pm, 11-7pm) with weekly pay and access to a steppingstone program for tuition assistance.

Required Qualifications

  • Active Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the state of Massachusetts (MA)
  • Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
  • Ability to provide basic nursing care such as checking blood pressure, inserting catheters, and helping comfort patients by performing tasks such as changing and dressing
  • Ability to document accurate and ongoing assessment of patient status
  • Ability to teach patient/significant other appropriate health information in a timely manner and share written informational material, as applicable
  • Ability to perform direct patient care, using established procedures, policies, and standards
  • Ability to prepare and administer medications according to policy and procedure
  • Ability to observe and document patients' responses to pertinent medications
  • Ability to demonstrate ability to handle emergency situations in a prompt, precise, and professional manner
  • Ability to admit, transfer, and discharge residents as required
  • Ability to receive phone orders from physicians and record on the Physician's Order Form
  • Ability to chart all reports of accidents/incidents involving residents
  • Ability to verify the identity of each resident before administering the medication/treatment
  • Ability to ensure adequate medications, supplies, and equipment are available
  • Ability to ensure narcotic records are accurate for your shift
  • Ability to give a thorough, concise report at change of shift
