Job Summary
LPN Infection Preventionist responsible for evaluating quality of resident care related to Healthcare Acquired Infections and Community Acquired Infections, collecting and analyzing HAI data, presenting findings and recommendations, monitoring infection control compliance, and providing education to staff, residents, and families. On-site IP for COVID-19 prevention per CDC guidance; develops and maintains Antibiotic Stewardship Program; ensures adherence to infection prevention standards within a post-acute care facility; requires active LPN license, CPR certification, and IPC training; prior geriatrics experience preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Attended an accredited LPN program
- Currently licensed/registered in applicable State. Must maintain an active LPN/LVN license in good standing throughout employment.
- CPR certification upon hire or obtain during orientation. CPR certification must remain current during employment.
- Specialized IPC training beyond initial professional training or education prior to assuming the role.
- Prior experience with geriatrics preferred
- Certifications or training per State requirements (e.g., Certified TB Nurse)
- Holds responsibility for monitoring Public Health Advisories from local, state, and federal agencies including the CDC
- On-site IPC for COVID-19 prevention and response activities, in accordance with current CDC recommendations
- Works onsite at the physical facility. May not be an off-site consultant or perform the IP work at a separate location such as a corporate office or affiliated short term acute care facility
- Maintains knowledge of infection control trends, methodologies, and employee health practices
- Performs work within the scope of his/her license
- Knowledge of Infection Prevention and Control practices and procedures as well as laws and guidelines governing nursing in post-acute care facility
- Implements and interprets programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of Infection Prevention and Control
- Maintains confidentiality of all proprietary information
- Understand and follow company policies including harassment and compliance procedures
- Displays integrity and professionalism by adhering to Life Care's Code of Conduct and completes mandatory training
