Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Infection Preventionist

Job Summary

Evaluate resident care quality and outcomes regarding Healthcare and Community Acquired Infections in accordance with applicable laws and Life Care standards. Collect, prepare, and analyze infection data to present findings and make actionable recommendations. Monitor associate compliance with infection control standards through barriers and prevention measures while preparing education for staff, residents, and families. Serve as the designated on-site Infection Preventionist responsible for monitoring Public Health Advisories, managing COVID-19 prevention activities, and developing the Antibiotic Stewardship Program. Maintain current knowledge of infection control trends and make independent decisions within the scope of licensure.

Required Qualifications

  • Attended an accredited LPN program
  • Currently licensed/registered in applicable State
  • Maintain an active Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse (LPN/LVN) license in good standing throughout employment
  • CPR certification upon hire or obtain during orientation
  • CPR certification must remain current during employment
  • Specialized IPC training beyond initial professional training or education prior to assuming the role
  • Prior experience with geriatrics preferred
  • Certifications or training per State requirements (e.g., Certified TB Nurse)
  • Works onsite at the physical facility
  • Maintains a current knowledge of infection control trends, methodologies, and employee health practices
  • Performs work within the scope of his/her license
  • Make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
  • Knowledgeable of Infection Prevention and Control practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing nursing functions in the post-acute care facility
  • Implement and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the Infection Prevention and Control Program
  • Perform proficiently in all applicable competency areas
  • Maintains professional working relationships with all associates, vendors, etc.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
  • Understand and follow company policies including harassment and compliance procedures
  • Displays integrity and professionalism by adhering to Life Care's Code of Conduct and completes mandatory Code of Conduct and other appropriate compliance training

Desired Qualifications

  • Prior experience with geriatrics preferred
