Job Summary
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides professional practical nursing services to designated clients, including independent nursing services, administration of prescribed medical treatments, and collaboration within the healthcare team. Responsibilities may include coordinating client care and discharge, practicing in home, school, or home care nursing clinic settings, and ensuring adherence to standards of practice. Requires completion of an approved LPN education program, active CLPNM registration, CPR training, a Manitoba Class 5 driver’s license, and satisfactory background checks. Work is in-person with shifts including days, evenings, and weekends; includes travel within community settings and potential maternity-term implications. Skills include nursing care knowledge, delegation, communication, documentation, adherence to PHIA/WHMIS/mental health legislation, and ability to work across multiple care settings with a focus on patient-centred care and discharge planning.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an approved Licensed Practical Nursing Education program
- Active registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Manitoba (CLPNM)
- CPR training as per employer policy
- Manitoba Class 5 driver's license
- Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector)
- Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check
- Ability to provide care in community/home/school/clinic settings
- WHMIS and PHIA knowledge
- Experience with discharge planning and coordination of client care
