Job Summary
Assist in the assessment of patients and planning/implementing individualized nursing care within a correctional health care unit, under supervision of an RN. Tasks include planning care with RNs, administering medications (including IV therapy when certified), obtaining diagnostic tests and specimens (e.g., EKGs), assisting with minor surgical procedures, documenting nursing encounters using SOAP, and ensuring safety/standard precautions. Responsibilities also include counting controlled substances with a partner at shift start, responding to codes or health emergencies, and adhering to security rules. Shift options include 7a-7:30p or 7p-7:30a with every other weekend; requires lifting and moving patients and equipment, and potential travel depending on needs.
Required Qualifications
- Have a current unencumbered LPN License in VT
- At least one (1) year of LPN experience in Corrections
- Have or obtain a BLS through AHA
- Willing and able to work in environment and physical conditions listed above
