Job Summary
Determine donor eligibility by conducting medical history interviews, physical examinations, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE) results while managing informed consent and confidential self-exclusion protocols. Evaluate donor reactions and manage medical emergencies according to SOPs, including developing standing orders and arranging transport to emergency care. Support the Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees and manage incidents requiring occupational health or ER evaluation. When authorized, act as a Pandemic Coordinator to support investigations related to community threats. This role supports plasma center operations at a BioLife Plasma Services center in the Bronx, NY, where collected plasma becomes life-changing medicines.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent to including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements
- Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: LPN or LVN
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification
- Fulfill state requirements (in state of licensure) for basic IV therapy
- Satisfactorily complete the FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
- Two years in a clinical or hospital setting
