Job Summary
Provide safe and respectful nursing care to long-term care residents by conducting thorough assessments, administering medications per protocol, and monitoring vital signs. Prepare patients for procedures and transfers while collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to develop, evaluate, and implement individualized care plans. Respond to incidents such as codes and alarms, assist with staff orientation, and address patient and family learning needs through education and referrals. Operate and maintain equipment, perform clerical duties, and advocate for residents during care planning and discharge processes.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from a recognized program for Practical Nurses or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
- Registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing LPN registrant
- Current basic cardiac life support certification
- Demonstrated knowledge and ability to perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) procedures appropriate for the area of service
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position
- Ability to apply decision making and analytical skills
- Ability to role model conflict resolution strategies
- Ability to prioritize and organize work
- Ability to teach and identify patient/resident learning needs
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
