Job Summary

Assess, plan, implement, and document patient care in accordance with facility and professional nursing practice standards. Review patient history, including prior medical and urological records, and collaborate with surgical scheduling on patient preparation and pretesting results. Provide direct surgical assistance in urological office procedures, perform treatments such as medication administration, dressing changes, catheterizations, and blood draws, and oversee delegation to the physician team. Administer urological educational requirements to patients, respond to telephone inquiries, and follow up on lab results. Utilize electronic documentation, maintain confidentiality, and comply with all health, safety, and regulatory policies.

Required Qualifications

  • Current LPN license as required by state
  • BLS certification
  • Completion of LPN program
  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
  • six months to one year related experience preferably in urology
  • Knowledge of urological office procedures
  • Uroflow Testing
  • Post Void Residual Testing
  • Intravesical Administration
  • Urinary Catheterization
  • Urodynamic Testing
  • Urinalysis
  • Venipuncture
  • Knowledge in healthcare systems operations such as EMR
  • Knowledge of database management
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Knowledge of healthcare coding systems
  • Knowledge of clinics functions
  • Knowledge of governmental regulations and compliance requirements
  • Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, managed care, and other third-party payer's guidelines
  • Basic computer skills/knowledge and keyboarding skills
  • Ability to calculate basic math

  • Recognition of recent and prior diagnostic test results having relevance to patient current urological health history
  • Provides delegation and oversight to direct and indirect care delivery of physician team
  • Provides direct surgical assistance with urological office procedures
  • Performs blood draws
  • Uses proper handling and disposal of all medications, chemical substances, needles, syringes, etc. used in the course of patient treatment
  • Sterilizes equipment and supplies as needed
  • Responds to patient telephone inquiries by evaluating and responding to the patient's problems and questions
  • Follows up with patients on lab results, including the scheduling of any additional tests
  • Attends and participates in monthly staff meetings
  • Must be able to lift 1-25 lbs. Frequent from 34% to 66%
  • Must be able to lift 26-50 lbs. Occasionally from 2% to 33%
  • Must be able to push/pull 1-25 lbs. Seldom, up to 2%

Desired Qualifications

  • ACLS preferred
  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing and six months to one year related experience preferably in urology
