Job Summary
Review the daily schedule, open and clean clinic rooms, and check patients into the EHR while gathering vitals and chief complaints. Verify medications and allergies, close care gaps, and ensure labs are available. Perform EKGs, blood draws, and injections; assist physicians with exams and surgeries. Process requisitions, sort daily correspondence, and manage inbox messages regarding labs, referrals, and insurance authorizations. Call patients with results and clean equipment as needed. Travel between Williamsburg and Newport News locations as required.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED
- one to three months related experience / training
- Nursing school diploma
- Current VA state license
- CPR Certification
- Ability to lift or move equipment
- Ability to stand and walk for limited periods of time
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time
- Ability to enter data into a computer via a keyboard
- Ability to occasionally reach, bend, stoop and lift up to 30 lbs
- Ability to grasp and hold up to 30 lbs
- Ability to occasionally squat and lean over
- Ability to hear normal voice level communications in person or through the telephone
- Ability to speak clearly and understandably
- Basic vision, corrected
- Ability to smell
- Ability to see and understand data on a computer screen
- Knowledge of basic nursing principles and protocols
- Knowledge of policies and procedures related to infection control, environmental safety and patient confidentiality
- Knowledge of examination, diagnostic and treatment room procedures
- Knowledge of medical chart reporting/records
- Skill in appropriate assessment and assistance techniques
- Skill in appropriate use of universal precautions, safe workplace and confidentiality methods
- Skill in health information management by appropriately charting patient data
- Ability to work scheduled hours as defined in the job offer
