Job Summary
Conduct physical examinations, establish medical histories, and evaluate donor suitability for plasma donation centers. Build rapport with donors, ensure confidentiality, and provide education on health and counseling for unacceptable test results. Evaluate and manage donor injuries, adverse events, and histories of illness or medications. Administer the employee Hepatitis Vaccine program and assist in staff training. Perform duties requiring standing, bending, and light lifting while managing exposure to biological fluids and extreme cold.
Required Qualifications
- EMT Basic
- Advanced EMT
- Paramedic
- Licensed Practical Nurse
- Registered Nurse
- Licensed Vocation Nurse
- Current CPR certification
- Educated and currently certified/licensed in the state of employment and according to state requirements as a Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, Licensed Vocation Nurse, Paramedic, or EMT
- Light lifting of 15lbs
- maximum lift of 50lbs
- Hearing acuity
- Color perception/discrimination
- near vision correctable in one eye to 20/30
- far vision correctable in the other eye to 20/100
- Ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand
- ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences
- Ability to make precise coordinated movements, of the fingers to grasp and manipulate objects
- Ability to make fast, simple, movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists
- Frequent hand movement of both hands
- Frequent foot movement
- Ability to squat, crouch or sit on one's heels on rare occasion
- Ability to walk, bends and twists at waist
- Ability to bend and twisting of neck up from 1 to 2 hours per day
- Work is performed both standing and sitting for up to 2 to 4 hours per day each
- Ability to work in extreme cold below 32 degrees F
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment such as protective eyewear, garments, gloves and cold-gear
