Job Summary
Conduct physical examinations, establish medical histories, and evaluate donor suitability for plasma donation centers. Build rapport with donors, ensure confidentiality, and provide education on general health and counseling for unacceptable test results. Evaluate and manage donor injuries, adverse events, and employee training while administering the Hepatitis Vaccine program. Perform tasks involving standing, bending, and light lifting up to 50lbs, with potential exposure to biological fluids and extreme cold in freezers. Requires current LPN or LVN licensure, state certification, and CPR. Required Qualifications
- Licensed Practical Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse
- Currently certified/licensed in the state of employment and according to state requirements
- Current CPR certification
- Ability to make precise coordinated movements, of the fingers to grasp and manipulate objects
- Color perception/discrimination
- Near vision and far vision correctable in one eye to 20/30 and to 20/100 in the other eye
- Hearing acuity essential
- Ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand
- Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences
- Ability to work independently and within guidance of oral or written instructions
- Ability to perform a wide range of tasks as dictated by variable demands and changing conditions
- Ability to relate sensitive information to diverse groups
- Ability to work in a plasma center
- Ability to handle exposure to biological fluids with potential exposure to infectious organisms
- Ability to handle exposure to electrical office and laboratory equipment
- Ability to handle exposure to extreme cold below 32 degrees F
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment such as protective eyewear, garments, gloves and cold-gear
