Job Summary
Utilize the nursing process to provide patient care under the supervision of a Registered Professional Nurse while maintaining professional accountability for assigned patients. Coordinate care with other departments, uphold patient rights, and ensure confidentiality of information. Perform duties consistent with Mercy Service Standards, including standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Obtain and maintain a current LPN license and complete Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of hire. Additional certifications such as ACLS, PALS, or PEARS may be required based on the unit.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited practical nursing program
- Current LPN license within the hiring state
- Meeting all State Board of Nursing requirements
- Ability to stand and walk most of the time on duty
- Ability to perform significant bending and stooping
- Ability to lift and turn patients with assistance
- Ability to push/pull/grip up to 50 pounds
- Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association or successful completion of course within 30 days of hire
Desired Qualifications
- Comparable education experience
- Successful licensure (in lieu of accredited program)
- ACLS certification
- PALS certification
- PEARS certification
- S.T.A.B.L.E. certification
- Other unit-specific certifications
- IV Certification within 1 year of hire
